Castrol Aero 35 Yellow
high-performance hydraulic fluid for aircraft landing gear shock struts
Castrol Aero 35 Yellow is a premium mineral hydraulic fluid, ISO VG 15 grade, specifically developed for aircraft landing gear shock struts. Based on MIL-PRF-6083F formulation, it features superior antiwear, anticorrosion, and extreme pressure (EP) additives to reduce galling, martensitic streaking, and "stick-slip" issues. Its stable viscosity index and excellent cold temperature performance make it a trusted choice for both military and commercial aviation applications.
Applications:
Aero 35 Yellow is designed for use in landing gear oleo struts. It is compatible with MIL-PRF-5606H and MIL-PRF-6083F hydraulic fluids, as well as petroleum-based and synthetic hydrocarbon lubricants. However, it is not compatible with synthetic gas turbine oils or phosphate ester hydraulic fluids. The product is suitable for use with most seals, hoses, and coatings found in strut assemblies and related dispensing systems. It meets Boeing Specification BMS 3-32B Type I and serves as an alternative to multiple Boeing Service Letters requiring EP-enhanced hydraulic fluids for shock struts.
Benefits:
- Enhanced EP performance: protects against metal wear and galling in high-stress shock strut environments.
- Stick-slip reduction: ensures smooth operation of landing gear mechanisms.
- Excellent low-temperature behavior: pour point down to -65°C enables cold-weather functionality.
- Compatible with industry-standard fluids: simplifies maintenance and servicing in mixed-fleet environments.
- Meets Boeing BMS 3-32B Type I: approved for commercial and military aviation applications.
Standards and Approvals:
- MIL-PRF-6083F – U.S. military specification
- Boeing BMS 3-32B Type I – Commercial aircraft specification
